This project belongs to the field of antenna radio wave propagation and microwave technology, and is supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Science and Technology Development Fund of Macau, and the Fund of the University of Macau. As the core component of sending and receiving signals at the front end of communication equipment, the antennas play a crucial role in information throughput and stability in today's 5G, 6G and Internet of Things (IoT) communication systems. The bandwidth, gain and radiation characteristics of traditional microstrip antennas are limited by the working state of single resonant mode, which cannot meet the complex requirements of the new generation of communication systems. Therefore, this project proposes and develops the theory of multimode antenna with multiplexing of impedance and radiation, focusing on solving and realizing the precise controlling of multiple resonant modes of planar antennas, the accurate controlling of the edge aperture electric field of high order modes of the antenna, and the comprehensive design of circularly polarized radiation properties with further generalized to the design of array antennas with dual-band or frequency scanning characteristics. Hence, it provides a key basic theoretical method for the designing of multimode antennas with broadband, high gain and complex radiation characteristics in the new generation communication and IoT systems. The project has published a total of 166 SCI papers, including 116 IEEE papers, of which 64 papers have been published in the top international journal IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation in the field of microwave and antenna technology. This achievement has attracted great attention from scholars and experts in the worldwide, making Macao exert an important influence in this major global scientific and technological research and development field.
